How to clean up a green pool

Why do our pools turn green?

The most common reasons for having a green pool can come from lack of maintenance & sanitation (chlorine) and rain/weather conditions.

A green pool clean-up can be easy OR complex depending on the type of algae and chemicals used. Professional advice is recommended for correct diagnosis and a speedy clean-up. These can include:

  • Green algae
  • Mustard algae
  • Black spot algae

Each of which require different algaecides with alternating chemical bases for best results.

Following is a snap-shot only of the steps to consider.

  • Super-chlorinate pool (consult professional for dosage amount)
  • Adjust pH levels
  • Brush surface of pool (walls & floor)
  • Add a specialty algaecide & clarifier & distribute evenly across the pool

Further steps need to be taken to ensure pool water clears quickly and is safe for swimming.
