The components of pool lights

Swimming pool lights have two main components:

The bulbs inside the housing mounted to the wall of the pool – which are typically LED’s however older style lights have halogen bulbs. Over time light components can perish from being in the water. Water incursion into the light is the most common cause of damage to a light.

The cables connecting the pool light from the wall of the pool to the transformer power source are copper wire. These can also perish over time, especially if water enters the cable casing causing the copper wire to corrode.

The transformer converts 240-volt power into 12/24 volt power for the pool light operation. With most transformers having additional components such as internal fuses that can be a cause of power loss. All pool lights must operate at 12 volts for the safety of users. All of which can be tested, repaired or replaced by a visit from Master Pool Care.
