What to do to your pool after it rains
Rain can have an adverse effect on your swimming pool. Largely, because rain facilitates the transfer of algae spores and other debris into your pool water.
This organic material reacts with and reduces the active chlorine level in the water. Then, as it decomposes it provides fuel for the growth and reproduction of algae and other simple organisms in the water. Combined with sunlight, especially in warmer water, the conditions become perfect to accelerate the growth of algae in your pool.
When rainwater and ‘run off’ enter the pool it can have an adverse effect on the chemical balance of the pool water, making it unsafe for regular swimming. This will also affect the appearance and clarity of the pool water as chemicals such as pH, calcium hardness, total dissolved solids (TDS) and alkalinity have become unbalanced.
